About the Artist
Painting is how I make sense of the world.
I am a Utah-based artist working primarily in acrylic and encaustic. My work explores the intersection of color, texture, and emotion — each canvas a record of what I felt the moment I made it.
My Medium
Acrylic — a lifelong practice
Working in acrylic most of my life, I focus on shapes, texture, and color to evoke emotions. I paint with large, quick strokes using acrylic paint and different varnishes on canvas. My subject matter varies from abstract color fields to contemporary organic shapes.
As I paint, I let my feelings within guide the brush until the personality of the canvas is unveiled. No two pieces are the same.
A New Love
Encaustic — exploring the translucent
Encaustic is my new love. I am constantly exploring new techniques with translucent layers — fusing beeswax, damar resin, and embedding different materials to create smooth and textured surfaces.
I started with small mini paintings, growing into larger formats as my technique develops. There is something deeply meditative about working with wax — the heat, the layering, the way light moves through each layer..
My Inspiration
The Desert landscape
I love the Desert landscape and often find inspiration from spending time in nature. When I am seeking direction, a visit to the botanical gardens is always top on my list. The desert teaches patience — nothing blooms on a schedule, and neither does a painting.
"Expressing my feelings with color is the way I will leave my mark on the world. One stroke at a time..."
My Process
From feeling to form
01
Listening
Every painting begins with stillness. I sit with a blank canvas and wait for the first impulse — a color, a direction, a mood.
02
Layering
I build in layers — broad strokes first, then texture, then refinement. Each layer informs the next and sometimes demands I undo what came before.
03
Releasing
A painting is finished when it no longer needs me. I know that moment by feel — a quiet satisfaction that the canvas has found its own voice.
Commission an original work
Custom artwork is my forte. Every commission begins with a conversation about what moves you — a color, a feeling, a space in your home.
